Beakaboo is a subscription box with the best quality of seed for tropical parrots on the market. It’s targetted for people knowledgeable about their pet birds and personalised to fit the taste of every single one of them.
Beakaboo is a brand designed for a university project based on a live brief created by a design studio Stocks Taylor Benson.
The goal of the brief was to come up with a name, visual identity, and packaging for a range of bird seed. The client wanted to create the best bird seed brand on the market with a clear USP and target market.
The mark of the logo presents a geometrical, simple shape of the parrot’s head. It goes along with a minimalistic style of the packaging and the brand in general.
The little star (a sprakle) replacing an eye of the bird references the brand’s slogan ‘Five-star seed’, highlighting the quality and a position of the brand among the competition.
Brand’s colour scheme has been inspired by the birds themselves: macaws, cockatiels and a variety of small hookbill parrots. Every packaging uses a different set of colours, depending on a species.
The design is consistent throughout and the colours make it easier to distinguish different kinds of seed from one another.
Beakaboo is a subscription box with seeds for parrots. Its tone of voice is focused on a premium quality and science (both when it comes to the diet and cultivation). As a result, the packaging didn’t require having a flashy design that would bring attention on a shelf.
The front of the packaging leaves a lot of space for stickers for clients that require personalised mix. It makes the client look important to the brand. The back shows a simple representation of seed found inside.
